Isaac Darko Boamah, managing editor of The Metro Lens Newspaper and a leading member of the Private Newspapers and Online News Publishers Association of Ghana (PRINPAG), has been accredited to cover the 80th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.

The Assembly is scheduled for Sept. 23–30, 2025; Mr. Boamah is due to depart Accra on Sept. 20.

While on assignment, he will provide real-time updates and reports to Ghanaian media outlets, including PRINPAG members, ensuring audiences at home receive accurate coverage of debates, side events and developments emanating from the General Assembly.

In 2024, Boamah was also accredited by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) to cover the UN climate conference in Azerbaijan.

He reported extensively on climate issues at the summit, and that experience inspired him to conceive a specialized publication for Ghana focused on environmental issues.

The idea led to the creation of Zero Waste, a newspaper concept dedicated to reporting on climate change and sanitation challenges and solutions in Ghana.

“I am Isaac Darko Boamah, a seasoned journalist and traditional leader,” he said in a recent statement.

“As the Managing Editor of The Metro Lens Newspaper, I have honed my skills in storytelling and news reporting.

My traditional role as the Mawerehene of Akyem Adadientam underscores my commitment to community service and leadership.”

Boamah’s accreditation to UNGA 80 underscores the continued role of Ghanaian journalists in covering global diplomacy and multilateral affairs.

His dispatches are expected to inform national newspapers, online platforms and broadcast outlets that rely on timely correspondents’ feeds from international forums.

Beyond journalism, Boamah serves as Mawerehene (chief) of Akyem Adadientam in the Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Area of Ghana’s Eastern Region, a position that highlights his engagement in local leadership and public service.

His academic credentials include a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and a Master of Science in Defense and International Relations from the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College.

He is also president of The Church of Pentecost Media Guild, a board member of Pent TV and Pent Radio, and an active member of PRINPAG.

As UNGA 80 convenes, Ghanaian audiences will look to Boamah for coverage on how global leaders address pressing issues ranging from peace and security to sustainable development, climate resilience and sanitation topics he has increasingly focused on through his reporting and the Zero Waste initiative.
