Depay has allegedly impregnated a Brazilian influencer
Former Manchester United forward, Memphis Depay has found himself in the middle of a controversy in Brazil after allegedly cutting ties with his pregnant local influencer.
According to multiple reports from Brazilian showbiz outlets, including journalist Fabia Oliveira, the Dutch international, who now plays for Corinthians, allegedly stopped communicating with Lary Simoes, a lifestyle and beauty influencer based in São Paulo, after she told him she was expecting a child.
Simoes, who has over 42,000 followers on Instagram and originally hails from Bahia in north-eastern Brazil, is said to have discovered her pregnancy about a month ago.
Reports suggest she and Depay began seeing each other in February 2025 after meeting at a birthday party.
Depay hits back at fans who criticized him for posting bikini photos of his girlfriend
“According to people close to Lary, Memphis Depay didn’t react well to being told she was pregnant and completely distanced himself from her since then. He has not responded to messages since then and has shown no willingness to discuss the pregnancy or potential fatherhood,” Oliveira wrote.
The journalist also quoted Simoes herself who confirmed Depay’s silence:
“It’s true, he’s ignoring everything. Up until now, not a single lawyer has come forward to address any questions or concerns he might have, nothing.”
Oliveira’s report was accompanied by photos she claimed showed the pair together, including a picture of Depay relaxing on a sofa beside a woman identified as Lary.
Another image reportedly depicted a positive home pregnancy test Simoes had sent to the footballer, while a third showed her wearing a Corinthians shirt signed by Depay.
As of now, Depay has not publicly commented on the allegations, though he did post what Brazilian media have described as a “cryptic” message on social media following the reports.
