In a remarkable achievement, Thelma Baffuor Atuah has etched her name into the annals of African football history by becoming the second Ghanaian to win the CAF Women’s Champions League.

The 20-year-old midfielder, a rising star from Ghana’s Jonina Football Academy, played a pivotal role in guiding her team, TP Mazembe, to a historic victory.

The championship final, held on November 23, in Morocco, saw TP Mazembe edge past AS FAR with a narrow 1-0 victory. Atuah’s contributions throughout the tournament showcased her immense talent, tactical intelligence, and unwavering determination, making her an indispensable figure in her team’s success.

Atuah’s journey to this milestone has been nothing short of inspiring. Having previously represented Ghana at the junior national level, she was instrumental in elevating Jonina Football Academy from the Greater Accra Division One League to the prestigious Malta Guinness Premier League. Her impressive football resume now includes the coveted CAF Women’s Champions League title, a testament to her relentless dedication to the sport.

The victory not only cements Atuah’s legacy but also brings pride to Ghana, as she follows in the footsteps of Blessing Agbomadzi, who won the same title with AS FAR. Atuah’s achievement underscores the growing prominence of Ghanaian talent on the international stage.

Looking ahead, Atuah has set her sights on Europe’s top football leagues. With her skill set, determination, and recent triumph, she is poised to excel further and inspire the next generation of Ghanaian footballers.

TP Mazembe’s victory also comes with a substantial reward of $600,000 in prize money, while the runners-up, AS FAR, will receive $400,000. The triumph is a significant milestone for TP Mazembe and a personal triumph for Atuah, whose story resonates as a beacon of hope and ambition for aspiring athletes across Ghana.

Thelma Baffuor Atuah’s star is shining brighter than ever, and her journey promises to leave an indelible mark on the world of football.
