Amidst the many traditional priests who shook hands with the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, during the final burial rites of the Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III, one personality stood out, a 7-year-old priest.
Captivating audiences, Okomfo Kwaku Abrantie has since been trending, with netizens eager to know more about him.
In response to the growing interest, excerpts from a recent interview has surfaced online on September 24, 2025, in which the young priest’s father shared more details about his extraordinary journey.
According to the boy’s father, an old priest, whose name the child now bears, prophesied that the boy would perform miracles.

“We know he was possessed by the gods because he did everything differently. He could chant for an hour without resting. He could prophesy, and all of them came through.
“When her mother got pregnant, one of the gods named Kwaku Abrantie, who is the dwarf of Tano, prophesied that when he comes to this earth, we should name him Kwaku Abrantie. He also added that he will help the Ashanti kingdom,” he said.
Okomfo Kwaku Abrantie was reportedly born with a spiritual charm, known as dufa, in his palm, a rare and symbolic sign in traditional belief systems.
“He came to his earth with a dufa in his palm. He had two charms, one in his left palm and the other in his right,” he added.
He said attempts by nurses at the hospital to remove the charms were unsuccessful until spiritual rites were performed.
“The nurses were surprised, and they wanted to remove it from his palm. So they had to call me, and when I came, I had to pray and ask him to give me the charm to keep it for him until he is ready to use it,” he stated.
During the interview, the young priest himself, Nana Kwaku Abrantie, disclosed that he had been possessed by a deity named Asuo Kuma at the moment he approached Otumfuo Osei Tutu II during the funeral ceremony.
“The powder I poured on Otumfuo was to strengthen him. It wasn’t my decision, I was possessed by a god called Asuo Kuma,” he said.
He further explained that defying the directive of the gods could have had dire consequences.

“Some spirits are stronger if I had stopped it. It could have done anything it wanted to do with me. It could have killed me or inflicted me with sickness. Most of them are aged, and they can even cry if you don’t do their bidding,” he said.
