Dr. Paulina Denteh recently returned from Russia, where she spent 7 years training to become a medical doctor.

Her years of hard work and studying hard eventually paid off and she left the country with her head high up, having achieved the historic feat as the first Black person in Russia to have earned the Red Diplome.

As Valedictorian also, this recognition crowned all the wonderful feats she achieved in the period of her study in that country.

On her return, and after many weeks of interactions with GhanaWeb, she invited the team from The Lowdown to Aburi, where she shared her beautiful story, as well as how she managed to surmount many challenges that initially sought to derail her.

From a complete stranger to the Russian language at the onset, today, she is a guru in the language – a feat that enabled her to even lecture other studies at the same university she studied at, while also still studying to become a doctor.

She told the Host of The Lowdown on GhanaWeb TV, Etsey Atisu, that “I’ve always wanted to become a medical doctor. So, having that passion and dream of becoming a medical doctor, and not just any kind of medical doctor, but I wanted to be a doctor that would help solve most of the problems that the world faces.

“So, Russia is known as one of the countries that are very good at some of these solving problems, in terms of the medical or health aspect… it was not easy when I got to Russia because, first of all, we know that in Russia, they speak more of the Russian language – they don’t speak English, or most of their cities don’t have English… and Russia is known to be one of the coldest countries. We go to the extent of negative 31. Sometimes, you have to even double wear your trousers.”

She continued that, “When I got to Russia, I was told by our seniors who were already there that it’s impossible for foreigners to get this Red Diplome. So, I told myself, ‘No, I am that kind of person that like challenges. I told myself I think there is nothing which is impossible; everything is possible based on the individual.”

Dr. Paulina Denteh is back in Ghana with a groundbreaking aim to introduce Ghanaians to an innovative, AI-powered initiative, while still aiming to be of help to the healthcare sector as much as possible, helping solving some of its biggest problems.
