    Eight Ghanaian athletes will be representing the nation at the 2025 World Athletics Championships, which will take place in Tokyo, Japan from September 13 to 21, 2025.

    Some of these athletes have distinguished themselves in the qualification stages and are hoping to make the nation proud at the event.

    In the 100 meters race, Abdul Rasheed-Saminu and Benjamin Azamati will be representing Ghana in the keenly contested race that will feature global stars.

    They will have to compete with the likes of the United States’ Noah Lyles and Jamaica’s Kishane Thompson for a medal if they reach that stage.

    World Athletics Championships: The rivalries that will define Tokyo 2025

    Ibrahim Fuseini is the only athlete competing in the 200-meter race for Ghana as he prepares to make history for himself.

    In the 800 meters, Alex Amankwa will be competing, while Rose Amoanimaa Yeboah will be the only representative for the Women’s High Jump.

    In the 4×100 meter relay race, Abdul-Rasheed Saminu, Benjamin Azamati, Ibrahim Fuseini, Barnabas Aggerh, Joseph Paul Amoah, and Mustapha Alufa Bokpin will be in action to showcase their prowess.

    Ghanaian athletes have posted impressive times in their build-up to the 2025 World Athletics Championships.

    In the men’s 100 meters category, Abdul-Rasheed Saminu leads with a time of 9.84 seconds (+1.5), followed by Benjamin Azamati, who clocked 9.98 seconds (+1.2).

    Other Ghanaian sprinters include Ibrahim Fuseini with 10.03 seconds, Barnabas Aggerh with 10.06 seconds, and Joseph Paul Amoah with 10.08 seconds.

    Mustapha Bokpin also recorded a personal best of 10.09 seconds, while Isaac Botsio followed closely with 10.11 seconds.
