Hon. Abubakar’s great legal prowess has pushed the debate away from fundamental economics and into the legal sphere. Her comments contrast those of Felix Ofosu Kwakye, Spokesperson for John Dramani Mahama’s Transition Team.

She maintained that until the formal transition, the incumbent administration had complete authority and explained that the actions taken were both necessary and legal.

Ms. Abubakar recommended the next administration to avoid politicizing basic administrative activities. “The real question is whether the government has done anything illegal,” she told me. “If this is the case, they might bring a lawsuit. If they go that path, the people of this country will support them. However, they should not utilize the transition period to undermine President Akufo-Addo’s constitutional mandate if no unlawful behavior has happened.

The Honorable Fatimatu Abubakar is the current Information Minister and a former Deputy Minister of Information. Her new assignment was given to her on February 14, 2024. Her birthplace is Kumasi, in the Ashanti Region. She holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a second degree in English language and law from the University of Ghana.

In 2008, she served as Chairperson of the SRC Week Planning Committee and Vice President of the Akuafo Hall Junior Common Room at the University of Ghana.

In January 2017, she began working as the Deputy Communications Director for the President’s Office at Jubilee House in Accra, Ghana.

Prior to her political appointment, she worked as a house manager and clerk at the Lansdown Resort in Aburi and SRM Engineering Limited.

She formerly served as a campaign staffer for then-candidate Nana Akufo-Addo during the 2016 and 202 national elections.

She took part in the 2020 Presidential Election Petition as a member of President Nana Addo Dankwa-Akufo-Addo’s legal team.

Because she considers herself a member of the Zongo community, Fatimatu Abubakar has mentored and continues to mentor countless young women, notably those from the North and other Zongo villages across the country. She wants to encourage as many young ladies as possible to take the right path and help them make daring decisions in their lives and careers for a brighter future.

She is an entrepreneur that never gives up on the growth and development of her business, regardless of politics or the law. Fatimatu Abubakar makes a concerted effort to surround herself with young people who share her opinion that assisting them on their path to success is intelligent and moral. A gesture that, in her perspective, conveys a strong message.
