    The Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA) hosted a pivotal forum, bringing together prominent show hosts, producers, influencers, and media experts to secure commitments to peaceful expressions and curb dis/ misinformation in Ghana’s 2024 elections.

    The event, featured keynote speakers Dr. Kojo Impraim, Director of the Media and Public Affairs Department (MPSD) at the Media Foundation for West Africa , and Nana Kwesi Gyan Apenteng, a renowned communicator and media consultant.

    The Director of MPSD of the MFWA, Dr Impraim reiterated the organization’s commitment to promoting media excellence, freedom, and responsibility in West Africa. He expressed optimism that the forum would contribute significantly to ensuring peaceful and credible elections in Ghana.

    Nana Kwesi Gyan Apenteng highlighted the dangers of misinformation and disinformation, stressing the need for media outlets to prioritize accuracy and truthfulness in their reporting. He also encouraged influencers and show hosts to use their platforms responsibly and promote peaceful expressions.

    Nana Apenteng emphasized media practitioners’ critical role in shaping public discourse and promoting peaceful elections. He urged participants to adhere to ethical standards and fact-check information before dissemination.

    The forum provided a platform for participants to engage in constructive discussions, share experiences, and commit to promoting peaceful expressions and curbing misinformation in the run-up to Ghana’s 2024 elections.

    With Ghana’s 2024 elections approaching, the MFWA’s forum serves as a timely reminder of the media’s critical role in promoting peace, accountability, and democratic governance.
