Medeama SC suffered a significant blow to their Ghana Premier League title ambitions after a 2–1 defeat to relegation-threatened Hohoe United at the Tarkwa and Aboso Stadium on Sunday.
The loss marked Medeama’s first home defeat of the 2025–26 league season, bringing an end to their impressive unbeaten run in Tarkwa and dealing a setback to their push for the league crown.
After a goalless but competitive first half, Medeama took the lead early in the second half when striker Kelvin Obeng found the net just two minutes after the restart. However, the hosts’ advantage was short-lived as Hohoe United responded quickly.
The visitors equalized in the 53rd minute when Medeama defender Fatawu Sulemana inadvertently turned the ball into his own net while attempting to clear the danger.
Medeama had a chance to restore their lead after being awarded a penalty, but goalkeeper Felix Kyei missed the spot kick. Hohoe United capitalized on the momentum later, scoring into an empty net after Kyei strayed off his line to seal a dramatic away victory.
