Medeama SC returned to the summit of the Ghana Premier League with a composed 2-0 victory over Eleven Wonders at the Tarkwa and Aboso Stadium on Friday, boosting their title ambitions at a crucial stage of the season.
The Mauve and Yellow now lead the table by a single point ahead of reigning champions Bibiani Gold Stars FC, who are yet to play this round. Their position at the top, however, remains under threat pending Sunday’s fixture.
Medeama took early control and opened the scoring in the 22nd minute through Kelvin Obeng, who reacted swiftly to head home from a Fatawu Sulemana corner. Six minutes later, Salim Adams doubled the lead with a well-struck free-kick, capping a dominant first-half display.
Despite creating several additional chances, Medeama were unable to extend their advantage but comfortably saw out the match. The win ends their recent winless run and restores momentum in the title race.
Attention now shifts to Sunday’s clash, where Gold Stars face Karela United FC, with the outcome set to determine the league leaders.
