Hearts of Oak forward Mawuli Wayo scored two late goals to lead the Phobians to a crucial away win against Accra Lions on matchday 15 of the Ghana Premier League.

Wayo came off the bench to score two goals in three minutes, completing a 3-2 comeback victory for Hearts of Oak in Sogakope on Sunday, December 29, 2024.

Hearts of Oak took the lead first in the exciting game when Mohammed Hussein scored in the first half.

Accra Lions responded strongly in the second half, with Lucky Nwafor equalising in the 53rd minute and Ezekiel Alladoh putting the hosts ahead 20 minutes later.

With Accra Lions appearing to secure the win, substitute Mawuli Wayo changed the game with an 81st-minute equaliser and a winning goal in the 84th minute, earning all three points for the Phobians.

Hearts of Oak have now won six out of seven games against Accra Lions, losing only one.

Despite the win, Aboubakar Ouattara’s side remains in sixth place on the league table with 25 points, while Accra Lions are in 16th place with 13 points after suffering their sixth defeat of the season.
