A young woman has been found dead on a property in the Northern Territory after neighbours heard ‘massive screaming’.

One local found the 28-year-old woman unresponsive on the property on Paqualin Rd at Malak, in Darwin’s north, about 9.20am on Wednesday.

Emergency services attempted to revive her but she was tragically declared dead at the scene a short time later, NT News reported.

Police arrested her partner, a 26-year-old man, and established a crime scene.

Officers allege he assaulted the woman in the hours before her death.

He was also allegedly in breach of a domestic violence order taken out to protect the 28-year-old woman.

The 26-year-old remained in custody on Wednesday night.

A neighbour claimed to have heard ‘massive screaming’ from the home about 5am on Wednesday, hours before the woman was found dead.
