The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC), Abigail Elorm Mensah, has disclosed that the Centre, with help from National Security operatives, has retrieved three state-owned vehicles from the residence of the former Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi.

According to a report by citinewsroom.com, he made this known on Citi FM’s Eyewitness News on Wednesday, September 10, 2025.

According to her, the move formed part of broader initiative by MASLOC to recover government loans and vehicles from defaulters.

“I have gone with National Security operatives to the house of the Chairman of the NPP in Ashanti Region, Chairman Wontumi. In fact, the cars were five but we’ve retrieved three. We are still chasing him for the other two. He has to pay for them,” she said.

The MASLOC CEO further noted that, under the Centre’s operational procedures, individuals who fail to meet repayment obligations or misuse government vehicles are required to either return the assets or settle their outstanding debts.

“What we do is that once I seize the cars, the agreement we have with you is that you would have to repay whatever has accrued and we release the cars to you,” she said.

Mensah added that several cases of asset misappropriation have already been reported to the police as part of efforts to safeguard public property.
