Ghanaian musician and outspoken social commentator, Shatana, has issued a strong warning to the judiciary over the ongoing legal controversy involving Highlife legend Daddy Lumba, his Germany-based legal wife Akosua Serwaa and a woman identified as Odo Broni, alleged to be his side partner.

In a video circulating on social media, Shatana who is the sister of the late renowned artiste Terry Bonchaka expressed deep concern about what she believes could become a dangerous precedent if the courts fail to protect the rights of legally married wives in Ghana.

According to her, any ruling that favours Odo Broni over Akosua Serwaa will not only undermine the sanctity of marriage but also send a message that “side chicks” can be elevated above legal spouses.

She stated emphatically that such an outcome would amount to what she calls “a scam by the judiciary.”

“If the court rules in favour of Odo Broni, then it means they are empowering side chicks over legal wives,” she said.

“We the married women will embark on a nationwide demonstration. The judiciary will lose credibility if they choose a side chick over a legal wife.”

Shatana stressed that her position is not driven by personal sentiment but by the need to defend the integrity of marriage, which she says is increasingly threatened by social normalization of extramarital affairs.

She argued that a court ruling seen as validating the claims of a side partner would destabilize homes, embolden “mistresses,” and strip legal wives of the protection they deserve under Ghanaian law.

The musician reaffirmed her full support for Akosua Serwaa, describing her as the rightful wife of Daddy Lumba who must be recognized and defended by the courts. She urged women’s groups, religious bodies and marriage counsellors to join in safeguarding the institution of marriage from what she believes is moral decay.

The case involving Daddy Lumba, Akosua Serwaa and Odo Broni has sparked intense public interest, with many Ghanaians monitoring the court proceedings closely.
