The Member of Parliament for Trobu, Gloria Owusu, has urged the New Patriotic Party, (NPP) to maintain the 2024 flagbearer, Dr Mahamadu Bawumia.

Speaking in Accra on Friday, October 3, 2025, during a campaign tour of the Region by former Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the MP said many party members are calling for Dr Bawumia to be elected as the NPP’s 2028 flagbearer, and the party must heed to the call.

NPP’s attitude, not the candidate, cost us 2024 Election – Gloria Owusu

“I was at the Dome market the other time to buy something and when the market women recognised me a number of them came around and mobbed me. What I am saying, God is my witness. They cautioned me that if we, the NPP make any mistake and don’t bring Dr Bawumia, we will see what will happen in 2028, they said they don’t want anyone who will come and be insulting people”, she said.

The MP affirmed that Dr Bawumia represents the NPP’s best bet to win the 2028 elections and declared her unflinching support and the commitment of others to work hard for him to win the party’s presidential primaries in January.

“For us in Amasaman, Trobu, Anyaa Sowutuom and Dome Kwabenya, all that we are saying is we assure you of our unflinching support and we will work very hard to get you elected as our flagbearer,” added.
