Controversial former Labor leader Mark Latham has been escorted by police officers out of a members-only restaurant at Royal Randwick Racecourse.

In a photo obtained by the Daily Telegraph, Latham is seen leaving the Grand View Restaurant flanked by two police officers on Saturday afternoon.

The officers spoke to Latham and a female companion at their table before the politician got out of his seat and followed the pair outside.

The Grand View restaurant is managed by the Australian Turf Club, who previously issued the politician with a suspended sentence.

    He then resigned his membership.

Sources told the publication that Latham reportedly told the police officers he was dining at the restaurant as a guest of another member.

Daily Mail has contacted Latham for comment.

This is just the latest in a string of incidents for the embattled MP.

Latham’s ex-girlfriend Nathalie Matthews aired out their dirty laundry in August and before that he attacked the Labor party for alterations made to his official portrait.

His furious spray at his former party came after a note was added to his parliamentary portrait condemning his behaviour in July.

The note reads: ‘In 2017 Mark Latham was expelled from the Australian Labor Party and banned for life. His actions do not accord with Labor values and fail to meet the standards we expect and demand’.

The portrait will continue to hang in Parliament House despite Latham, who was banned from Labor in 2017, being accused of domestic violence.

Latham strongly denies the untested claims made in an apprehended violence order application by his former partner Nathalie Matthews.

He has repeatedly stated that he has ‘broken no laws’.

Ms Matthews alleged a ‘sustained pattern’ of abuse. Her allegations include Latham pressuring her to take part in ‘degrading’ sex acts.

Latham led Labor between 2003 and 2005 and currently sits as an independent in the NSW upper house.
