A shocking parking standoff along a busy coastal strip has been caught on dashcam, sparking calls for the cops to be brought in.

Footage captured a driver attempting to park in a vacant spot outside the Crowne Plaza in Terrigal, on NSW‘s Central Coast on April 20, only to find it blocked by a man standing in it.

As the driver edged closer, the man waved her away with a ‘shooing’ motion and refused to move.

The driver honked in frustration, prompting the man to yell ‘Don’t hit me!’

‘It’s not taken. You can’t stand here and hold a park for someone,’ the driver shouted in response.

    ‘He’s being a d**k. I am not letting him.’

The standoff continued for over a minute, with the pedestrian stubbornly guarding the space.

Eventually, the car he was reserving it for arrived, and the other driver was forced to pull away.

The incident has fuelled outrage after being shared online.

‘I’ll never understand how people who stand in parking spaces aren’t utterly humiliated to be seen doing that,’ one person commented.

‘I’m watching this while eating breakfast, and that first video has just p***ed me off for the day,’ another wrote.

Several viewers said they wouldn’t have given up the spot so easily.

‘I wouldn’t have driven off. I would have stood next to him and made sure his friend couldn’t park there either!’ one said.

‘I would’ve gotten out and stood there with him, if I can’t park, neither can you,’ another comment read.

Others mocked the man’s actions: ‘Being a tool is timeless, sadly’.

Meanwhile, some made fun of the car which ended up taking the spot.

‘Why am I not surprised the guy was holding the spot for an obnoxiously loud R32?’ one wrote.

Some commenters even called for the police to be told.

‘The person stands on the spot, seen this happens overseas in the past but can’t believe it happens in Australia,’ one said.

‘The only solution is to call the police. This type of behavior must be discouraged. Report this to the police with the vehicle detail.’
