A Nigerian pharmacist has taken to social media to express his concerns about the unreadable handwriting of a doctor on a patient’s prescription.

Sharing on Twitter (X), the pharmacist @MrMekzy_ tweeted a picture of a patient’s description with the doctor’s handwriting that strongly resembles a baby’s scribble.

    He tweeted,

“Doctors need to stop doing this, it is not okay. It causes medication errors and the danger it poses to everyone involved (especially patients) is alarming! I can actually understand what he wrote, but it’s still so annoying”.

Despite his understanding of the prescription, doctors needed to stop writing in such a difficult way since it might result in pharmaceutical errors and affect all parties, especially the patients.

While some insisted on sending the patient to the doctor for a readable prescription, others questioned whether handwriting was a separate subject for medical students in medical school.

According to netizens, the writing technique is obsolete and was used to stop patients from regularly buying their prescription drugs and to prevent drug misuse.
