An X (Twitter) user has taken to social media to express deep frustration over the way a woman was treated at a school after falling behind on her child’s school fees.

In a lengthy tweet, he described how the child was being excluded from school activities and not being given homework due to unpaid fees.

Despite the mother assuring the school that she would settle the payment by the end of the term, her pleas were met with murmurs and judgment from other parents.

The man, who also admitted to struggling to meet school fee obligations himself, said he was heartbroken by the lack of empathy shown towards the woman.

Considering the fact that she claimed she had never defaulted on payment in the past.

He went on to criticize the rising classism in society and how people seem quick to judge others without understanding their circumstances.

A part of his tweet read;

“So, this week, I was able to pay the bulk part of it. I took my child to school this morning, and a woman complained that her child had been ostracized and wasn’t given homework, and all because she promised to pay the end. The woman requested to see the school head, and all I heard were parents murmuring. Guess what they were saying, ‘If you can’t pay money, let your child stay at home!’. ‘The holiday was long now, how much is the money?’ I stood and watched how everybody badmouthed this woman, and I just shook my head. This is a woman who said she has never defaulted when it comes to paying her child’s school fees, and here are people murmuring and bad-mouthing her.”
