Representative Jared Moskowitz announced Thursday that a person accused of threatening his life has been arrested near his home in Boca Raton, Florida.

The Florida Democrat, who is running in one of the country’s most closely watched congressional races, revealed the arrest on social media in a post made Thursday afternoon, saying the suspect was a constituent who was taken into custody close to his residence.

“A constituent of mine has just been arrested in Boca, just a few miles from my house, for threatening my life. He is currently in the Palm Beach County jail,’ the Democrat wrote.

‘I’m grateful to @fdlepio and local law enforcement for acting quickly to keep myself and my family safe,’ he added.

Despite originally facing a tough re-election race, an effort to oust Moskowitz by the Congressional Leadership Fund, a Republican PAC, was abandoned this week.

Moskowitz, who is Jewish, was the target of a gunman who lived under ten miles away from his Florida home back in 2024.

As the debate over the safety of lawmakers raged on Capitol Hill in the wake of the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk last year, the Florida Democrat predicted that the threats on political figures would keep escalating.

‘Someone’s gonna get killed here. It almost was me,’ Moskowitz told the Wall Street Journal last year.

As a moderate Jewish Democrat, Moskowitz is representative of a demographic that gets targeted by the left and the right.
