A major UK supermarket is offering shoppers free wine this March – as long as they review it on social media.

Aldi has launched its own ‘Winefluencer Club’, looking to piggyback off successful ‘wine influencers’, who review different wines online, using social media sites such as Instagram and TikTok.

It has partnered with influencer Liam D’Arcy, who goes by ‘The Wine Wally’ online, who will advise shoppers how to become the next rising star of social media.

Mr D’Arcy, who has 104,000 Instagram followers and 29,000 TikTok followers, will be a mentor to the clubs’ members as he helps them create memorable reviews.

The supermarket will select ten people to become part of the club, who will then review different types of Aldi wine over the next three months – all for free.

The catch is that they must share their reviews on social media for the world to see.

Those wishing to join the exclusive new club must submit an application by March 18.

As part of the application, budding wine lovers will have to write 150 words about why they should be chosen, and answer which Aldi wine is their favourite, and why.

Liam D’Arcy said: ‘This is a fantastic opportunity for wine lovers – not only to taste Aldi’s amazing wine for free, but to develop their skills, grow their audience and help others discover top picks from the latest range.’

Julie Ashfield, Managing Director of Buying at Aldi UK, says: ‘At Aldi, we’re embracing the changing world of wine.

‘With the launch of our Winefluencer Club, we’re not just offering great wine, we’re creating a community where passionate wine lovers can share their thoughts on the range. It’s all about making wine something that everyone can enjoy, no matter their level of expertise.’

To be in with a chance of landing the role, budding tasters will need to send an email to winefluencerclub@aldi.co.uk, including their application, full name, proof of age and social media details.
