Passengers have been evacuated from Rockhampton Airport due to an incident, with flights unable to land on the runway.
Officers from Queensland Police Service were called to respond to an incident at the major regional airport on Wednesday.
‘As a precaution the premises has been evacuated,’ a spokesperson told the Daily Mail.
‘All outgoing flights have been suspended, and all incoming flights have been diverted until further notice.’
Rockhampton Regional Mayor Tony Williams published a statement on social media, confirming council is aware of an incident.
‘Anyone travelling is advised to contact their airline directly,’ he said.
The light plane ZD440 had taken off from Rockhampton Airport about 1.16pm but almost three hours later, it was seen circling at least seven times – just 38 miles away.
