Entertainment pundit, Ola Michael

Entertainment pundit and media personality Ola Michael has expressed his optimism about the Black Stars’ chances of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

According to him, Ghana’s poor performance in the previous matches was due to the team’s spirit being affected by happenings in the country.

Speaking on UTV’s United Showbiz on March 22, 2025, Michael pointed out that the government’s increased support for the team and the overwhelming love from fans created a positive atmosphere that was absent during previous matches.

“Look at the love they received this time. They never got such support the last time they were in an international tournament,” he stated.

He cited the shift in morale and performance following Ghana’s dominant 5-0 victory against Chad in a recent qualifier, stating that the same group of players, who previously struggled, now appear motivated and united.

“It wasn’t like they were new players, they were the same players from the previous tournament. The team spirit was back,” he explained.

The media personality also linked the team’s improved performance to the current political climate, suggesting that past challenges in the country had negatively impacted the Black Stars.

“The change in leadership brought about the change in team spirit. It’s like whatever was happening in the country was affecting the team. Now that all that is gone, the team spirit has been reset,” he added.

Meanwhile, following their 5-0 win against Chad, the Black Stars have arrived in Morocco to face Madagascar on March 24, 2025.
