President John Dramani Mahama has sworn in four ambassadors, charging them to attract investment, expand trade and create opportunities for Ghanaians abroad as part of the government’s Reset Agenda.

The President gave the directive at a swearing-in ceremony at the Jubilee House on Friday, October 16, 2026, urging the envoys to make Ghana’s diplomatic missions more responsive to the country’s economic and development priorities.

The newly sworn-in envoys are Nana Antwiwaa Dodoo, assigned to Angola; Louis Kwame Obeng, to Qatar; Evelyn Korantemaa Ofosu-Amable, to Israel; and Jedidiah Reuben Adogla, Ghana’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office in Geneva, Switzerland.

President Mahama said Ghana’s missions must play a more active role in identifying investors, helping local businesses access foreign markets and building partnerships that support skills development, research and technology transfer.

“Our missions play an important role in identifying investors whose interests align with Ghana’s development priorities, helping Ghanaian businesses enter new markets abroad, and building relationships with institutions that can support skills development, research, and technology transfer,” he said.

He said the success of Ghana’s economic diplomacy should be measured by the opportunities and jobs created through international partnerships.

The President urged the ambassadors to help Ghana secure greater value from its natural resources by promoting local processing and investment in productive industries.

He also called for efficient consular services and stronger support for Ghanaians living abroad, stressing that their welfare must remain a priority for diplomatic missions.

President Mahama further highlighted Ghana’s application for partnership with the BRICS countries, saying the initiative was intended to broaden the country’s development partnerships and strengthen cooperation among developing economies.

He said closer engagement with BRICS could create opportunities for trade, investment, industrialisation and value addition without undermining Ghana’s relations with its traditional partners.

The President also directed Ghana’s new ambassador to Israel, Evelyn Korantemaa Ofosu-Amable, to uphold the country’s position on Palestine.

“We recognise the sovereign State of Palestine and support a viable two-state solution in which Israel and Palestine will live side by side in peace and security within internationally recognised and secure borders,” he said.

He added that Ghana’s international engagements must uphold international law, protect civilians and respect human dignity.

President Mahama urged the four envoys to work closely with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, adhere to government policy and use public resources responsibly.

He reminded them that Article 40 of the 1992 Constitution should guide their conduct in promoting and protecting Ghana’s interests abroad.
