A Presidential Staffer and Deputy Director of Operations at the Presidency, Mustapha Gbande, has revealed that President John Dramani Mahama sends GH¢20,000 every month to each constituency across the country to support the running of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Speaking to a gathering of NDC sympathizers, Gbande, who also serves as the Deputy General Secretary of the NDC, said the initiative was part of President Mahama’s efforts to strengthen the party’s grassroots structures and ensure that executives at all levels are adequately resourced.
“Today, as we speak, twenty thousand cedis go to a constituency every month to service the party. And it comes straight from the President,” Gbande stated.
He also disclosed that for the first time in the country’s political history, a significant number of regional and constituency executives of the NDC have been appointed into various government positions.
“For the first time, regional secretaries and field chairmen assumed the responsibility of regional ministers. If you go to the regions, about eight or nine executives of every region have been appointed into government. And if you go to the constituencies, about eight to ten executives of every single constituency have been appointed into some office of government at some level,” he revealed.
Gbande emphasised that this level of inclusion reflects President Mahama’s commitment to rewarding party loyalty and ensuring that the NDC’s grassroots are well represented in governance.

He further noted that the Mahama administration is characterized by what he described as the most inclusive government in Ghana’s history, incorporating not only NDC members but individuals from diverse political and professional backgrounds.
“If you look at the form and shape of governance that has been formed, Ghana has never had the kind of government we have today. The support we got was so diverse that it didn’t just come from NDC people,” he added.
