Former Kumasi Asante Kotoko coach, Isaac Adade Opeele Boateng, has responded to those urging President-elect John Dramani Mahama to quickly address the economic situation in the country.

He stated that such demands are unnecessary because it will take Mahama some time to improve the economy from its current state and ease the burden on Ghanaians.

The coach criticised those calling for Mahama to reduce the price of Kenkey from GH¢5 to GH¢1 and $1 to GH¢10, as he had promised during the campaign.

Coach Opeele emphasised that Mahama cannot instantly transform Ghana’s economic situation, as some people believe.

“All those talking trash already that John Mahama should turn Kenkey from GH¢5 to GH¢1 and $1 to GH¢10 must be told in plain language that President Mahama is not a magician.

“If my NPP had respected Ghanaians, this embarrassing defeat would never have happened. Let Mahama be,” he wrote on X.

The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC) declared the results of the 2024 general elections on December 9, 2024.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, emerged as the winner, receiving 6,328,397 votes, representing 56.55%, while the New Patriotic Party Flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, came in second with 4,657,304 votes, representing 41.61%.

Following the announcement, some individuals on social media have been urging Mahama to promptly address the economic situation or face criticism.
