The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Techiman North, Johnson Kwabena Adom, has assured master artisans at the Tuobodom Magazine of the full completion of the stalled Magazine Basic School project by next year.

During a working visit on Monday, September 22, 2025, to inspect stalled government projects, Hon. Adom stated that the assembly would rely heavily on its Internally Generated Fund (IGF) to complete the school. He emphasized that the project would serve as a clear example of the proper use of local taxes.

“The completion of the school will be good, but of paramount importance is showcasing it as a testament to the proper usage of the assembly’s IGF,” the DCE said. “Often, IGF is used for operational purposes. This time, the assembly will use it to complete the school. This will serve as a testament to what your taxes have achieved.”

He added that such visible achievements would encourage people to pay their taxes willingly.

Hon. Adom mentioned that his visit was directed by the Regional Minister, Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu Agyare, following an earlier plea from the community for the school’s completion.

On funding, the DCE expressed doubt about relying on support from the central government. “If we decide to rely solely on the central government, that might not help us. So, every little money we generate will be used to buy necessary materials, and bit by bit we will complete it, latest by next year,” he promised.

In response, the Chairman of the Tuobodom Magazine Association, Mr. Saani, thanked the DCE, as well as patrons Nana Appenteng Fosu Gyeabour and Nana Gyasi Acheampong. He highlighted the importance of education, stating that societies that neglect it lag behind, and pledged the association’s unwavering support for the project.

Saani explained that the completed school would resolve the daily challenge masters face of having to leave work to transport their children. “Every day we stop work to drop off and pick up our kids. This affects our output. The school’s completion will allow us to concentrate on our work,” he stressed.

He also appealed to the government to consider establishing a technical school, or converting the current one, to allow master craftsmen to impart their skills to the youth. This, he said, would help reduce the menace of unemployment.

Chairman Saani concluded by applauding the Regional Minister, the DCE, and the President for their efforts so far.
