Entrepreneur and socialite Irene Adusei Sarkodie, popularly known as Maame Gold, has opened up about being abandoned by her partner while pregnant and struggling to survive in the Bronx, United States of America.

Speaking in an emotional conversation with MzGee on G’Oclock ahead of the 2026 Convergence of Mothers, Maame Gold revealed that she was jobless, depressed, and financially unstable when she conceived.

She disclosed that her partner’s rejection during that difficult period pushed her into considering an abortion.

“When I found out I was pregnant, I was in a very bad relationship, so I wasn’t happy. Thanks to my father, I thought of letting it go. I spoke to my godmother in the U.S., Aunt Shirley, and she clearly told me she did not support that decision,” she recounted.

Paying tribute to her father during the interview, Maame Gold expressed gratitude for choosing to keep the baby, who is now her only biological child.

She revealed that although she had hoped to have more children, medical challenges have made it impossible.

“I wanted at least three or four children, but I didn’t get that chance. I have one, and he is like a thousand to me. Medically, it’s not possible for me to have more,” she said.
