    Published: 15:37 EST, 29 January 2025 | Updated: 16:07 EST, 29 January 2025

Commuters have been warned to expect major delays on Northbound lanes of the M1 motorway on the Gold Coast after an accident involving a truck.

Queensland Police have warned drivers to expect significant delays due to the closure of the motorway, with all northbound traffic being diverted at the Yatala South exit.

Motorists are advised to find an alternate route, with delays of up to two hours and traffic backed up to Movie World.

One man has died following the incident with the truck about 12.49am on Thursday, the Courier Mail has reported.

The pedestrian had been treated for life threatening injuries at the scene.

A second patient was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.
