Ghanaian rapper M.anifest has shed light on the pressing challenges facing the country’s music industry and what it takes to secure meaningful investment.

Speaking in an interview on Hitz FM, he highlighted a stark contrast between Ghana’s music industry and other creative sectors.

“Globally, people are making incredible strides. Even Ghana’s visual arts sector is reaching new heights in terms of business, yet the music industry remains stagnant,” M.anifest stated.

The ‘Tomorrow’ rapper noted that Ghana’s music scene lacks both influence and impact, falling short of its potential.

“In plain and honest terms, we are behind. As a country with immense talent, we haven’t developed the industry to a respectable level,” he remarked.

While acknowledging infrastructure limitations, M.anifest stressed that creatives must also take responsibility for shaping the industry’s future.

“Infrastructure is definitely a challenge, but creatives must also adopt a more business-minded approach. The industry needs to be tangible.

“We haven’t established a profitable structure that benefits both artists and consumers,” he explained.

He further emphasized that raw talent alone won’t guarantee success in the music business.

“Nobody will invest in you just because you’re talented. They’ll invest because you have talent and a viable business model,” he pointed out.

Rather than dwelling on challenges, M.anifest urged creatives to be proactive in building the industry.

“Good ideas bring money, not the other way around. We need to take this seriously.

“We spend too much time making excuses and discussing problems instead of treating this as a real industry,” he concluded.
