Mark Okraku-Mantey suggests Lumba's residence be turned into a museum and mini restaurant Mark Okraku-Mantey suggests Lumba’s residence be turned into a museum and mini restaurant

A former Deputy Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Mark Okraku-Mantey, has proposed that the East Legon residence of the late Highlife legend, Daddy Lumba, be transformed into a mini restaurant where President Mahama could host some of his guests.

In an interview with Aluta FM on November 12, 2025, Okraku-Mantey suggested that instead of the property being left for the family to inherit and live in without any financial benefit, it could be developed into a space that generates income.

According to him, the family could convert the residence into a museum, a conference centre, and even a mini restaurant where visitors would pay to use the facility.

He explained that such a move would help preserve the legacy and story of Daddy Lumba, as visitors would have the opportunity to learn about the life and achievements of the late musician.

“Daddy Lumba’s East Legon residence should be turned into a museum. The family could earn a lot of money, and it would be more useful than just living there to sleep and bath. His house could host a conference centre for meetings, and a small restaurant could be added where, for example, President Mahama could entertain visitors and have dinner,” he said.

Daddy Lumba passed away on July 26, 2025, at the Bank Hospital after a short illness.

The Manhyia Palace has announced that the final funeral rites of the late Highlife legend has been rescheduled to December 13, 2025, instead of the initially planned date of December 6, 2025.

The decision followed a meeting at the Otumfuo Saamanhene Palace on November 10, 2025, during which a new funeral committee, chaired by the Dadiesoabahene, was appointed to oversee the arrangements.

At the meeting, Daddy Lumba’s sister, Ernestina Akosua Fosu, requested a postmortem, expressing concerns about a possible foul play in her brother’s death.
