A seven-year-old girl has died following a horrific two-vehicle collision that seriously injured two others.

Lincolnshire Police were called to the B1202 Metheringham Heath Lane in Lincoln on Friday evening after a blue Kia Rio collided with a white Citroen Relay.

Officers said the girl had suffered serious injuries and was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital. Sadly, she died just before 4.30am on Saturday.

The force said her family is now being supported by specially trained officers.

Two other people sustained serious injuries during the crash and another two were believed to have suffered minor injuries.

Following the incident Bloxholm Lane, the B1188, and the A15, were closed several hours.
