President John Dramani Mahama gave his appointees up to March 31, 2025, to declare their assets or face severe sanctions, including the possibility of removal from office.

Article 286 of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana mandates public officeholders to complete and submit Asset Declaration forms to the Auditor-General’s Office upon assumption of office.

Despite the President’s warning following the appointment of selected individuals to public office, a court document filed by Wilberforce Asare, a prominent journalist, indicates that some officials failed to comply.

Through his lawyer, Eric Dawda, Asare has filed a mandamus application at the Registry of the General Jurisdiction of the High Court, seeking orders directing the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) to investigate the Chief Executive Officers of COCOBOD and the Minerals Commission, as well as some Board Chairmen of state corporations.

Declare your assets by July 15 – President Mahama directs MMDCEs

In his application invoking the supervisory powers of the Court against CHRAJ, the applicant deposed and attached a Right to Information (RTI) response from the Auditor-General’s Department.

The response indicates that twelve Board Chairmen and two Chief Executive Officers of state corporations failed to declare their assets before assuming office.

See the full list as released by the Auditor-General below.
