    Following a wave of media buzz since its release, the film “Captain Ibrahim Traoré,” produced by Ghanaian actor Kwadwo Nkansah ‘LilWin’, has received an international nomination at the New Zealand Film Festival.

    In an Instagram post shared on August 18, 2025, LilWin announced that his movie has been nominated for Best African Movie at the New Zealand International Film Festival.

    He explained that his film came top among over 500 movies pitched during the nominations.

    “LilWin’s movie Captain Ibrahim Traoré, directed by Jackson K Bentum, has been nominated for best African Movie at New Zealand International Film Festival,” the post reads.

    The Kumawood actor added that only 10 movies were nominated among the over 500 films.

    “The movie came out as an outstanding piece of work in over 500 movies, and only 10 movies were nominated,” he added.

    Meanwhile, LilWin has been honoured by Burkina Faso’s military leader, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, after he recently launched a movie about the Stateman.

    LilWin first premiered his much-anticipated movie on August 2, 2025.

    The movie talks about how Captain Ibrahim Traoré became the leader of Burkina Faso following a coup on September 30, 2022.

    It also talks about Traoré being a symbol of anti-imperialist sentiment and youth-driven reform in the country.
