Pained Lil Win has voiced his disappointment in both the government and the Creative Arts Agency (CAA) for what he describes as poor coordination regarding the scheduling of a national candlelight vigil for the late highlife legend Daddy Lumba.
The actor-cum-movie producer expressed frustration that the vigil, scheduled for 2 August 2025, coincides with the premiere of his highly anticipated film, Ibrahim Traoré, based on the life of the iconic Burkinabè revolutionary leader.
Lilwin who spoke with emotions, added that the premiere, which is set to take place simultaneously in Accra and Kumasi, marks a significant milestone in his career.
He revealed that he has invested over a million dollars into the production and spent years planning the release.
“I’ve poured my heart, soul, and over a million dollars into this project,” Lil Win said. “It took years of planning, and now the date clashes with a major national event. Couldn’t there have been better coordination from the authorities?”
As argued by Lilwin, Daddyu Lumba’s candle vigil, which is expected to receive national attention, will overshadow the premiere of his film, potentially affecting both attendance and media coverage.
“Why did Daddy Lumba’s family choose the same date as my premiere?” he asked emotionally. “I’ve invested everything into this. Is it an attempt to sabotage my work?”
“There’s always some form of resentment when it comes to my progress,” he stated. “But I won’t stop pushing.”
