Veteran Ghanaian musician Gyedu-Blay Ambolley has expressed displeasure regarding how creatives in the country depend on artificial intelligence rather than focusing on their natural talent.

In an interview on GHOne TV shared on Facebook on March 7, 2025, Gyedu-Blay Ambolley said Ghanaians are losing their culture because of dependence on technology.

Citing the works of veterans such as David Dontoh and Grace Omaboe, Ambolley explained that their contributions will always have an impact on the Ghanaian community due to their creativity.

“We are a people of culture and tradition… Wisdom is our tool so we have to go back to it because it is the only thing that can guide us. We are created in such a way that there is always a network. There is always a connection about how families are connected and it makes things bearable.

“Now technology has made that thing different and individualism has taken to the forefront… We know that anything that is of artificial intelligence we can’t count on that but now we are starting to count on it,” he said.

He also called on creatives to minimise the rate at which they rely on artificial intelligence for their work.

“Anything that is from the AI is something that is already there. We are just catapulting on it… We have to go back to our culture for guidance. Because there is a reason why we are talking about Sankofa. We have to start thinking right,” he added.
