Ghanaian actor Adjetey Anang has urged Ghanaians to actively support the local movie industry and provide constructive feedback to help shape its growth.

Speaking in an interview on November 23, 2025, the celebrated actor noted that the industry has undergone a challenging phase but is gradually bouncing back with stronger and better-researched productions.

“We’ve gone through a phase and I think we are just coming out of it. There were times where if you want to compare with some time back, we were doing pretty well.

“In terms of the volumes that we churn out over the period, I think we’ve become more inward-looking and it takes time because we are doing more research,” he said.

He stated that several promising productions are being released, which he believes will elevate the industry to its rightful place and even take it beyond previous heights.

“There’s some bright products or contents coming out there that will put us back where we were supposed to be and beyond. Let’s give it some time and most importantly, let’s patronise and let’s give our feedbacks,” he shared.

Addressing the importance of recognising industry veterans, Adjetey Anang lamented that Ghana often fails to celebrate its creative pioneers while they are still alive.

He highlighted efforts being made to correct this trend, particularly through recent events dedicated to honouring living legends in the film and theatre space.

“That’s why we’ve been intentional especially with this event where on the beginning of the Monday, we’re doing that,” he noted.

Adjetey continued, “We are honouring our legends who are living because sometimes, it’s when they’re gone that we do that and I’m happy that Fiifi Coleman is also doing something like that.”

Adjetey Anang stressed the importance of acknowledging those who laid the foundation for the current generation of actors.

“It’s important for us to know that these are guys who held for fort for us and inspired us and today we’re here,” he added.
