    The Ghana Music Rights Organisation (GHAMRO) has officially expressed its sorrow over the passing of iconic highlife musician Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba.

    In a statement issued on Monday, July 28, 2025, GHAMRO described Lumba as a “revered member” of the organization with “hundreds of active musical works and sound recordings” under his name.

    The organisation’s leadership, led by Rex Owusu Marfo (Rex Omar), paid a courtesy visit to the family at Lumba’s official residence to confirm the news and offer their condolences in line with Ghanaian customs and traditions.

    GHAMRO acknowledged the irreplaceable role Daddy Lumba played in shaping the country’s music landscape and his contribution to the growth of collective rights management in Ghana.

    “We extend our deepest condolences to the bereaved family, the entire music fraternity and all Ghanaians who are mourning this great loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time,” the statement read.

    The organization also called on the nation to honor Lumba’s legacy by promoting the excellence he stood for throughout his celebrated career.

    “As we celebrate the life and legacy of Charles Kwadwo Fosu, let us also recommit ourselves to preserving and promoting the kind of excellence that Lumba so passionately exemplified. May the gentle soul of Charles Kwadwo Fosu rest in perfect peace,” the statement concluded.

    Daddy Lumba, born Charles Kwadwo Fosu, was widely regarded as one of Ghana’s greatest musicians, with a career that spanned over four decades and produced numerous timeless hits.

    His death on July 26, 2025, following a short illness, marked the end of a golden era, but his timeless voice and legacy continue to echo across generations.
