Legendary gospel artiste and Senior Pastor at Grace Baptist Church, Rev. George Owusu Mensah has reportedly passed away.

According to a report by Footprint TV, Rev. George Owusu Mensah died on the morning of November 10, 2024.

Rev. Mensah was a revered pastor and a prolific music composer whose contributions to gospel music have left an indelible mark on the industry.

Reverend Mensah is also the father of fellow gospel musician, Kofi Owusu Peprah.

His compositions, including beloved songs like ‘Matwen Awurade Anim’ and ‘Wo nkutoo na wos3 ayeyi’ have been a source of inspiration and worship for many.

Beyond his musical achievements, Rev. Mensah played a pivotal role in shaping the spiritual and musical journey of his son, Kofi Owusu Peprah.

He served not only as a father but also as Kofi’s first music teacher and mentor, instilling in him the values of faith and dedication to the craft of gospel music.

Kofi Owusu Peprah, known for his powerful and uplifting gospel songs, has often credited his father for his musical foundation and spiritual guidance.

Reverend Mensah’s last public outing was in August 2023 when his son joined him on stage to treat the audience to some of his hit songs.

The loss of Reverend Mensah is a profound one for Kofi and the entire gospel music community.

In a statement on his Instagram handle, Kofi expressed his shock but expressed his gratitude for his father’s influence in his life.

“Perplexed, but not in despair!!! Thank you Daddy. See you on the Resurrection Day,” he posted.

Following the news, the gospel music fraternity has extended condolences to Kofi Owusu Peprah and his family.

Many have taken to social media to share their memories and pay tribute to Rev. Mensah’s impactful ministry and musical contributions.
