Celebrated Ghanaian actor Mawuli Semevo has reportedly passed away at the age of 63.

According to a report zionfelix.net has sighted on myjoyonline.com, he passed away on Thursday, February 20, 2025, at the Ridge Hospital, where he was receiving treatment after suffering severe burns in a fire accident.

The tragic incident, which occurred about a week ago, was first made public by Judith Addison of Beyond Burns International, a non-profit organization dedicated to advocating for burns survivors.

In a video report shared on their social media pages on February 8, 2025, she confirmed that Mawuli Semevo had been critically injured in a fire at his home.

“Beyond Burns International got an SOS that something unfortunate has happened. We came here today and veteran actor Mawuli Semevo has been involved in a severe fire accident. I came here to see him, and his life is hanging in the balance,” Judith Addison stated.

According to her, the actor was asleep in his house when the fire broke out. He sustained burns covering 44% of his body, suffered respiratory injuries, and struggled to breathe. “From his head to his legs—everywhere caught fire. He has lost all his hair,” she added.

Actors Ken Fiati and Edinam Atasti later corroborated the report, expressing their concern over his condition.

Before his sad demise today, Mawuli Semevo was widely respected for his exceptional talent, gracing both stage and screen with memorable performances. His filmography includes roles in Harvest at 17, A Stab in the Dark, Escape of Love, Like Cotton Twines, and The Good Old Days: The Love of AA.

His passing marks a huge loss to the Ghanaian film and theatre industry.
