NBA superstar LeBron James has confirmed that he will not compete for Team USA in the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, stating that he is content with his four Olympic medals.

Speaking on the “Mind the Game” podcast, the 40-year-old Lakers forward said,
“You already know my answer. I will be watching it.”

James, who has won one bronze (2004) and three gold medals (2008, 2012, 2024), is expected to have a front-row seat at the basketball competition in Inglewood during the Olympics.

Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry, also on the podcast, indicated he likely will not participate either. At 40, Curry said,
“God willing, I still have the choice and physical option where I could impact the team. Never say never, but I highly doubt it. Highly doubt it.”

James is nearing his season debut with the Lakers after missing the start of the campaign due to a sciatica issue. Curry, meanwhile, played his first Olympic Games in 2024 in Paris, helping the United States win its fifth consecutive gold medal, averaging 14.8 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.5 assists in 23.3 minutes per game.
