The Lebanese Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Maher Kheir, has been recognized as one of Ghana’s 100 Most Influential People at the 2024 Most Influential People Awards (MIPA).

H.E. Maher Kheir’s latest award was in recognition of his impactful leadership and contributions to growth in Ghana. He received the award at a prestigious ceremony held at La Palm Royal Beach Hotel in Accra.

With a visionary mindset and the ability to convert strategy into action leading to workable results, Ambassador Kheir continues to shine in the diplomatic space and leadership landscapes.

This year’s plush event, organized by the Business Executive Group, celebrated professionals whose achievements have significantly influenced Ghana’s socio-economic sectors.

The ceremony took place in the presence of dignitaries such as government representatives, members of the Diplomatic Corps, industry leaders, members of academia, entrepreneurs, and other stakeholders.

Under his leadership, the Lebanese Embassy has expanded its flagship educational scholarship program to cover students in disciplines such as public relations, languages, performing arts, film and television, and translation. This follows initial support for other academic disciplines like law, journalism, development communication, and media management under the same scholarship program. Through this scholarship platform, he has pioneered the formation of the Lebanese Scholarship Alumni Network (LESAN), through which its members undertake humanitarian projects to solve need-based problems in key Ghanaian communities.

In diplomacy, he has helped to advance parliamentary diplomacy between the two countries through the Lebanon-Ghana Parliamentary Friendship Association.

In trade and economy, Ambassador Kheir has contributed to promoting economic and trade cooperation in the public and private sectors.

He has also significantly helped in building relationships and contributed in various segments of Ghana’s society culturally, economically, socially, and through humanitarian initiatives.

Receiving this award, the Lebanese diplomat, who is also the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps in Ghana and President of the Francophone Ambassadors’ Group, expressed gratitude to the organizers for providing this platform to recognize and celebrate these exceptional leaders.

Ambassador Kheir dedicated the award to the people of Lebanon, whom he said were suffering at the moment.

According to him, the award is proof of the Lebanese resilient spirit, adding that “the Lebanese people played and continue to play a major role in many sectors like culture, arts, fashion, trade, economy, and tourism.”

He acknowledged that “Lebanese were and continue to be one of the most influential people in the Middle East and around the world.” That is why he dedicated this award to the Lebanese people.

He also dedicated it to the Ghanaian people who inspired him with strength, resilience, peace, love, and harmony.

Influence, he noted, is not measured by words alone but by actions that resonate, ideas that innovate, and the courage to lead in the face of challenges.

On the global level, he stressed that the world faces trials that test the very essence of society: economic and social inequality, the defense of human rights, and the ongoing impacts of conflict and instability.

But these challenges, he noted, demand strong leadership, resilience, and unwavering commitment, which all awardees have demonstrated.

“Each of you has shown that one person can indeed make a difference, and together, we can move mountains. You represent the potential to create a better future through action and leadership,” he said.

He therefore congratulated other honorees for lighting the way forward, adding, “May your influence continue to inspire generations to come.”

Ambassador Maher Kheir’s influence and vision serve as a benchmark for leadership excellence in Ghana’s diplomatic space, inspiring the next generation of leaders to pursue excellence, innovation, and practical solutions.

The Most Influential People Award (MIPA) was designed to identify and publicly recognize 100 people in Ghana whose personal and professional conduct and accomplishments, combined with their respective positions of authority and consequent influence, have enabled them to exercise the most influence on the socio-economic, political, and cultural fortunes of Africa as a region integrated into the global community of nations and the emergent global economy.
