Poll shows NPP’s Solomon Asumadu (L) trailing NDC’s Bernard Baidoo (R) ahead of by-election Poll shows NPP’s Solomon Asumadu (L) trailing NDC’s Bernard Baidoo (R) ahead of by-election

The latest poll by research agency, Global Info Analytics, on the upcoming by-election for the Akwatia constituency has put the candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Bernard Baidoo, in a commanding lead.

According to the poll, 53% of voters in the constituency have indicated that they would be voting for NDC’s Baidoo in the by-election, which is just three days away.

The candidate of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Solomon Asumadu, from the poll garnered 47% of votes in the poll.

This gives Baidoo a six-percentage-point lead in the by-election, which is slated for September 2, 2025.

An earlier poll by the same outfit; Global Info Analytics, had put the NPP candidate in the lead.

According to that poll, the candidate of the NPP, Solomon Asumadu, was leading with nearly 50% of constituents assuring they would vote for him.

The Parliamentary Candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Bernard Baidoo, came second with 44% of voters in the constituency indicating their preference for him in that poll.

The poll also showed that 6.5% of the constituents indicated they would be voting for different candidates other than Solomon Asumadu and Bernard Baidoo.

The Executive Director and Head of Global Research at Global Info Analytics, Mussa Dankwah, who shared excerpts of the latest poll on X on August 29, 2025, indicated Baidoo had overtaken Asumadu because most of the constituents believe he is the person who can bring them development.

“NDC’s Baidoo overtakes NPP’s Asumadu three days before the crucial polls for the main opposition in Akwatia. Baidoo’s lead is propelled by voters who want development, and SHS and tertiary voters who preferred Baidoo by a larger margin.

“Using the committed model, which is likely to be the minimum vote for Baidoo, the NDC candidate leads with 53% and Asumadu of the NPP, 47%,” he wrote.
