Medeama SC climbed to the top of the Premier League table after a dramatic 2-1 victory over Dreams FC at the TNA Stadium in Tarkwa on Friday.
A moment of heartbreak for Dreams FC defender Christian Owusu—who scored an own goal deep into stoppage time—handed the Mauve and Yellow all three points and preserved their strong home record.
Medeama started on the front foot and deservedly opened the scoring in the 19th minute when Abdul Salam finished off a well-worked team move after a dominant spell of possession.
Dreams FC grew into the game and equalised just before the break, with Owusu turning home from close range in the 45th minute.
The visitors, still chasing their first win of the season, defended with discipline after the interval and looked poised to secure a crucial away point.
However, their resistance was shattered in stoppage time when Christian Owusu inadvertently turned the ball into his own net, sealing a hard-fought win for the hosts.
The defeat leaves Dreams FC winless in five matches, increasing pressure on Coach Winfred Dormon as his team struggle for consistency.
Medeama, meanwhile, continue to impress on home turf and move to the league summit with the victory.
The former Ghana Premier League champions will next face FC Samartex 1996 in a Western Derby, while Dreams FC host Nations FC as they continue their search for a first win of the campaign.
