Erislandy Lara retained his WBA middleweight title against late sub Johan Gonzalez in a monotonous 12-round decision. The main highlight was a solid knockdown in round 12, which had many fans wondering why Lara didn’t try to turn that trick earlier. Finals scores were 120-106, 119-107 and 118-108 all for Lara, who improves to 32-3-3, 19 KOs. Gonzalez drops to 36-5, 34 KOs.
