The Lagos State Police Command has arrested and detained popular content creator Habeeb Hamzat, popularly known as Peller, following a viral video showing him engaging in reckless driving that resulted in a serious road crash.

According to a statement released by the Command, the incident occurred on Sunday, December 14, 2025, and was reportedly live-streamed on social media.

The police described Peller’s actions as dangerous, noting that he endangered his own life as well as the lives of other road users.

The Command stated that the suspect’s conduct constitutes an alleged attempt to commit suicide and a clear violation of public safety laws. He has since been taken into custody for further investigation.

The case is currently being investigated by the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID). The outcome of the investigation will be made public, and the suspect will be charged in a court of competent jurisdiction in accordance with the law.

Reacting to the incident, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, CP Olohundare Jimoh, issued a strong warning to social media influencers, content creators, and the general public against using online platforms to promote reckless, dangerous, or unlawful acts.

He emphasized that such behaviour would not be tolerated and assured residents that the Command would apply the full weight of the law to offenders.

The police further urged all road users to strictly adhere to traffic regulations, reiterating their commitment to maintaining public peace and safety across the state
