    The  Accra Circuit Courtroom has sentenced a hairstyl­ist, Adwoa Nyarko, to 5 years in jail for partaking in GH¢139, 000 recruitment rip-off.

    She was discovered responsible on 4 counts of conspiracy to commit a criminal offense and defrauding by false pretenses.

    The accomplices of the hair­stylist, Nana Osei and Charles Kwame Damoah, have been at giant.

    Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Raymond Ackon, prosecuting, knowledgeable the courtroom, presided over by Mrs Ellen Ofei Ayeh that Nyarko resides in Wenchi.

    In response to prosecution, in September 2021, the complain­ants, Nana Yaw Barimah and Collins Atta Oteng, reported to the police a case of recruitment rip-off.

    ASP Ackon mentioned that in 2020, Nyarko and her accomplices demanded and obtained GH¢39, 000, promising to safe or facil­itate employment for family members of complainants on the Ghana Rev­enue Authority, however they did not ship on their promise.

    The prosecution said that upon receiving the criticism, the police investigated the case, resulting in Nyarko’s arrest in Asankare, Ashanti Area.

    Throughout interrogation, Nyarko admitted to receiving cash from the complainants to safe jobs for some residents of As­ante-Akyem, the courtroom heard.

    ASP Ackon additional said that Nyarko handed the cash over to her accomplices, Osei and Damoah, who have been at giant.

    The prosecution mentioned that ef­forts have been ongoing to find and apprehend Osei and Damoah, to help in investigations. —GNA
