    Mixed reactions have trailed a post that was shared online, which brought to light the desperate move a lady made to leave the country.

    The incident, which was shared on X (Twitter), revealed how a lady faked her kidnap and then used the ransom money to relocate abroad.

    According to the post, the woman initially asked her family to support her plans to travel out of the country (popularly known as japa).

    The tweet read: “This lady lied to her family, she was kidnapped, she got the ransom money, and then Japa. Called them from abroad and told them she asked nicely, but they said no money.”

    However, she was turned down due to financial constraints. Leading her to fake her own abduction, which prompted her family to raise and send ransom money to ‘secure her release.’

    Rather than return home, she reportedly used the funds to process her relocation and called her family only after landing abroad to reveal the truth and justify her actions by claiming she had no other choice.

    While some social media users found the story amusing or even clever, others have condemned the act as manipulative and morally wrong.

    Below are some of the comments;

    “She deserves to be disowned and sued in court for deceit. The formal charges should be sent to her employers abroad and the local police so that she can be deported back to stand trial.”

    “Na person wey know say both him family and the extended family carry go do this kain thing. If I try am, na my head dem go see for Abule Oniparaga in Ogun state.”

    “I have one question for the folks bookmarking this post, what’s your plan? Talk to me, this is a safe space.”
