The Vice President of the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA), John Ansah, has credited former Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kwesi Nyantakyi for paving the way for Ghanaian football to gain recognition from the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

This week, reports confirmed that the current GFA President, Kurt Okraku, has filed his nomination to contest for a position on the CAF Executive Committee in the elections scheduled for March 2025.

Ansah believes this opportunity is largely due to the groundwork laid by Nyantakyi.

In an interview with Happy FM, Ansah praised Nyantakyi for being a trailblazer in ensuring CAF’s engagement with Ghanaian football.

“Kwesi Nyantakyi paved the way, and that got CAF to monitor football proceedings within the country. So, whenever you perform well and your zone acknowledges your efforts, you’ll be rewarded. This wouldn’t just be a plus for the president but for the country as a whole,” Ansah stated.

Reports indicate that with Djibril Hamidou, President of the Niger Football Association and current WAFU Zone B representative on the CAF Executive Committee, contesting for a position on the FIFA Council, Kurt Okraku is expected to run unopposed for the CAF EXCO seat.
