Ghanaian music fans are in for a treat this holiday season as Kwaysi teams up with DJ Boat for a new Christmas anthem titled Detty December.

With Rhythm Style on the production, the song effectively captures the excitement, energy, and festive spirit that characterize Ghana’s much-awaited December celebrations.

The lyrics of the track epitomize the meaning of ‘Detty December’, a household phrase describing the wild and colorful end-of-year celebrations in Ghana. From buzzing nightclubs to events hosting stars, ‘December in Ghana’ has become a staple in the country’s cultural calendar, hosting events such as AfroNation, Afrochella, Festival of Plays, Rapperholic, and Manifestivities. It sets the tone for what is shaping up to be an unforgettable month.

In ‘Detty December’, Kwaysi’s lyrics echo themes of hard work and celebration. Lines like, “Forget about your worry bcos from January to December we dey hustle,” pay homage to the year-long grind that culminates in the festive joys of December.

The track also highlights the struggles of Ghanaians abroad, with poignant references to life’s challenges and the importance of taking time to enjoy hard-earned success.

DJ Boat’s contribution to the anthem is a rhythmic masterpiece, with his beats complementing Kwaysi’s dynamic flow. The result is a song that’s not just a bop but an ode to the Ghanaian spirit of resilience and celebration.

As November draws to a close, ‘Detty December’ arrives as a timely reminder to prepare for Ghana’s ultimate holiday experience.

The song ends with a heartfelt call to action: “I want to take this opportunity to invite everyone in the diaspora, come home. At least, come every December, let’s have fun. Come to Africa.”
